Answers

  Medium and analysis
The rubber of the AMEX-10 seal is produced in accordance with the pipe the medium. For pipelines carrying potable- or sewer water we use EPDM. In gas we use a special developed NBR.
For other medium, especially for aggressive liquids, we require a chemical analysis. Based on such information we select the ideal material for the seals.

Material of pipe/when built
For the price calcutaltion and the site preparation we require information about the pipe material and age of the pipe. In general all pipes can be rehabilitated by the AMEX-10 system.

Internal diameter/ length between joints
In order to enable us to work out a quotation and to produce the seals we require the exact internal diameter in the joint area with an indication of maximum possible tolerances. We also have to know the distance between joints.

Working pressure (outside- and internal pressure)
We require the maximum working pressure of the pipe.
Is the pipe confronted with infiltrating ground water, we require the maximum outside pressure.

Type of joint
We require the maximum width and depth of the joint. If possible, please let us have a cross section drawing of the joint. This is just required for work preparation, in general the AMEX-10 system seals any joint.

Place/Country
In order to chose the correct seal profile it is important to know whether the seal will be possibly installed in an area endangered by earthquakes, an area with strong setting properties or with rising groundwater..

Condition of pipe: pollution, corrosion
Information about the condition of the pipe in the joint area: wallthickness, corrosion, pitting, pollution, solid/loose sediments. Indication whether the corrosion can be brushed off or whether it has to be grinded.

Rehabilitation lengths (distance between access)
The length between access of the pipe to be rehabilitated depends on the diameter of the pipe. Your pipenet plan will help to work out the optimum lengths.

Required time for rehabilitation
Above information is necessary to organize the site, to work out a realistic offer and to calculate the required time for rehabilitation as accurate as possible.

Frequently asked questions related to the AMEX-10 system

Has the pipe surface prior to installation of the seal to be prepared?
This depends on the condition of the pipe surface. Corrosion and pollution have to be removed, rough uneveness has to trued up.
For the best sealing result AMEX-10 has to be pressed onto a smooth pipe surface.

In which sizes are AMEX-10 seals available?
AMEX-10 seals are tailor - made.
Before producing the seal the pipe will be measured on both sides of the joint and possible tolerances will be registered.
AMEX-10 seals have been produced and successfully installed in sizes from 500mm to 6000mm.

How will the seals be installed?
AMEX-10 seals will be put upright into the pipe, two stainless steel retaining bands will be installed into the grooves of the seal and by means of a hydraulic jack expanded.
This pressure, which will be mechanically maintained, presses the seal tightly to the pipewall.

How will the tightness of the seal be tested?
On request each AMEX-10 seal can be fitted with a flat valve. Each installed valve then can be tested by a portable compressed air unit. A soapy solution is applied around the interface between the seal and the pipe to check for leaks.

In which width are the seals available?
The required width is in accordance with the type of the joint, the width of the joint and the corrosion. The AMEX-10 seal is available in three sizes:
Standard:260mm wide
Standard:366mm wide
Extra:540mm wide
With the new AMEX-Vario we can produce an endless lining.

Which guarantees will be given by the AMEX-10 system?
The variious material grades of the AMEX-10 seals are undergoing exhaustive material tests.
These tests proved the AMEX-10 seal will last in excess of 50 years.
We offer the usual guarantee for construction work in the respective countries.

Is the seal able to tolerate joint movements?
Yes, this is one of the advantages of the AMEX-10 system.
As the seal is installed on both sides of the joint in two different pipes, movement of the pipes in the joint can be tolerated.
If the kind of possible movement is known in beforehand, the respective special profile can be used.

Is the seal able to tolerate stepped joints?
As AMEX-10 covers the joint and is fixed to two different pipe walls stepped joints can be tolerated.

Is it possible to connect two different pipe materials?
The AMEX-10 seal will be fitted independently to two different pipe walls. Therefore it is posible to seal the joint of two different pipe materials.

Is it possible to rehabilitate other pipe profiles than round pipe profiles?
AMAX-10 is able to rehabilitate round profiles, half profiles and egg - shaped pipes.
Even box section pipes have been successfully rehabilitated by AMEX-10 seals.

Is it possible to repair pipe bursts?
AMEX-10 can seal radial cracks while AMEX-10 Vario seals horizontal cracks.

Can the seals withstand pressing (infiltrating) ground water?
AMEX-10 can withstand pressing ground water but it has to be protected from 'ballooning' by installation of additional retaining bands.

How much does the seal reduce the cross section of passage?
After installation of the retaining bands under full load and compression the seal is 12mm thick.

What delivery time does AMEX-10 offer?
Depending on order volume the delivery time is 2 - 3 weeks after receipt of written order. In cases of emergency shorter periods are possible.
